Employee Spotlight: Maria Piastre, Manager, Precious Metals Purchasing Department

Q&A with Maria Piastre:
1. What are your roles/responsibilities at Metallix Direct Gold?
As manager of the Precious Metals Purchasing Department for Metallix Refining, I also oversee the day-to-day operations that transpire at Metallix Direct Gold.
2. What is your favorite aspect of working at the company?
Hands down, my favorite part of working at MDG is working with such a fantastic group of people. They are hardworking, dedicated and warm, and each person brings something special to the group.
3. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?
We have a pet Conure (bird) named Harley. He is a recent addition to my family.
4. List one fact about yourself that most people don’t know about you.
I am a champion singer on The Beatles™: Rock Band™ and I love to dance, I’m actually pretty good at it.
5. What is your favorite sports team?
My favorite sports team is the soccer team, Deportivo Cali, from my hometown in Colombia. They have brought me great joy, and also many tears and sleepless nights. They are my brother’s favorite team, too. My mother cheers for our biggest rivals. This lead to friendly – and sometimes not so friendly – competition in our house growing up.
6. What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Thanksgiving, it is a great holiday. I am from Colombia and we do not have a holiday like Thanksgiving. There are no expectations other than offering thanks for all your blessings and, of course, all the delicious food. Plus, it ushers in the holiday season.
7. If you could have a super power, what would it be? Why?
I would have the ability to read minds. This would come in quite handy.
