Coin dealer gives five gold coins to Salvation Army
Salvation Army buckets in Maryland received an extra-special jingle this season from a self-named “Secret Santa Claus.” In response to the non-profit’s season sidewalk collectors, Frederick Coin Exchange owner, Matt Lerner, donated five one-ounce gold South African Krugerrands (coins).
Each coin is valued at nearly $2,000. The non-profit returned the coins to the Frederic coin shop, and in exchange received a check from Lerner for $9,000. Read the full article for more details.

Anonymous donor contributes gold Krugerrands to non-profits
Two non-profits, the Brooks Food Bank and the Salvation Army, in the Canadian province of Alberta each received an anonymous donation of a one-ounce gold Krugerrand coin. Each coin is currently valued around $1,700.

Gold coins among collection up for bid to benefit the Hispanic Society of America
The Hispanic Society of America stands to gain a much-needed source of financial support in the New Year. Starting in mid-December, a rare collection of nearly 38,000 coins was put up for auction, with the winning bid to benefit the Hispanic Society of America.
The collection was assembled more than 100 years ago by the Society’s founder, Archer M. Huntington, and is estimated to attracted between $25 and $35 million in bids for the museum. Read the full article to learn about the historic coins included in the collection.
